Hartford Connecticut Occupational Therapists - The License Lawyers

Occupational therapists work with people of all ages, from premature babies, young children, adults in midlife, and seniors. Occupational therapists (OT) will look at how a person completes any kind of activity or task, and come up with a plan to improve the way it is done in order to make it easier or less painful.

You Could Lose Your License

In order to become an OT in Hartford you will first need to obtain a relevant bachelor’s degree. This means, depending on the type of graduate program you want to go into, that you need to graduate from college with an OT major or a related major in health science, kinesiology etc. After undergraduate school students must then pursue a master’s degree in OT. In order to qualify for a license, this is required. The degree must be approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association, and requires both classroom learning and field work. In order to begin practicing you must then pass the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy Examination. This will allow you to get your license. However, there are situations where this license may be taken away. A few common issues include:

Criminal convictions. A misdemeanor may result in suspension or warning, while a felony could result in the complete loss of license.

Fraud. Usually OTs will run into problems regarding defrauding insurance companies or clients on the actual pricing for their services.

Unethical conduct. This might include sharing confidential client information
